    Confederate Vet research

    in General Discussions

There is a marker at the old Camp Stonewall Jackson campground with names of charter members of Stonewall Jackson Camp 249, 1 ½ mi south of Holliday. These are names of men who served in Confederate forces during the Civil War, who survived to join the United Confederate Veterans, and met regularly at the campground during the post Civil War period into the first part of the 1900's. These were men who lived in this area; some were well known, others less known.

Some NTGA members have been researching the names of Confederate vets on the monument, and while we have not been able to find information on every one of them, we have found information on a good many of them, and the information is being added to the archives here on this site (click on Document Archives tab above). Each Confederate vet with research information is listed as a separate document. This is a work in progress so if you don't see one you want, check back later as it may be added later.
